At Nelson Labs, we are pushing the boundaries of scientific innovation. Our commitment to excellence has led us to adopt state-of-the-art analytical equipment to meticulously study extractables & leachables from polymers, plastics, rubbers, and alloys. These impurities, introduced by medical devices or container closure systems throughout their shelf life, pose potential risks to both patients and medicinal products.
Our advanced hyphenated chromatography and accurate mass instruments enable us to identify compounds at an elemental composition level with remarkable precision. We are thrilled to announce the latest addition to our high-end instrumentation family: two brand new Dual-LC Orbitrap Exploris™ 120 systems by Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Ruud Cuyvers, a leading expert at Nelson Labs, shares: “Several years ago, we introduced Orbitrap technology at Nelson Labs to establish a future proof screening method for non-volatile compounds. This, among other things, resulted in the creation of the Nelson Labs Unique Screener Database, an extensive database containing relevant compounds for the Extractables & Leachables industry. Recently, we decided to upgrade this method without compromising its foundational principles. The new Thermo Fisher Scientific Orbitrap Exploris™ 120 system allows us to integrate tandem mass spectrometric functionality. Combined with a custom differential screening workflow using Compound Discoverer, this enables us to screen for compounds with greater confidence at even lower concentration levels. The dual-LC also optimizes MS-uptime and maximizes throughput by eliminating the necessary blanks between samples.”
In addition to more operational convenience for our lab staff, this addition of new instruments also provides our clients with an even higher degree of certainty in their reports at the desired thresholds.
