Lee Wence is a toxicologist with the Expert Advisory Services team at Nelson Labs, where he uses his chemistry background to bridge the relationship between extractables and leachables (E&L) chemical testing of medical devices and toxicological risk assessments per the ISO 10993 standards. He specializes in the preparation of toxicological risk assessments from E&L studies as well as for gas pathway devices per the ISO 18562 series of standards. He has also worked with the Nelson Labs chemistry department to prepare E&L reports and standard testing protocols (STP) for analytical testing methods.
Lee received his PhD from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, for synthetic inorganic and organometallic research. He has nine years of experience in research laboratories throughout his PhD and BSc (Hons) degrees, where he worked with novel air- and moisture-sensitive transition metal complexes and ligand sets and used a variety of instrumental techniques for chemical characterization.
