Rubber Manufacturing and Composition of Pharma Rubbers

Rubber closures are often used in the primary packaging system of small volume parenterals.

This presentation aims to provide more insight into the manufacturing process and basic composition of rubber compounds used for pharma applications. Additionally, it will discuss how the properties of rubber can be adjusted to match specific requirements and how to ensure that the rubber meets all the relevant criteria for safe use in the final application.

Tine Hardeman

Manager Material Development Healthcare – Datwyler

Dr. Tine Hardeman studied Polymer Chemistry at the University of Leuven and received her MSc in 2013. She acquired a PhD for her dissertation on the controlled synthesis of conjugated polymers in 2017. Dr. Hardeman started her career at Datwyler in 2018 as Manager Material Development. In this role, she works with a variety of rubber formulations, including the development of new formulations, raw material management, Day 1 March 30, 2022 and helping customers with rubber compound-related questions. Over time, she developed a specific interest in the field of Extractables and Leachables, where her detailed knowledge of rubber formulations combined with Datwyler’s extractables data provide an interesting perspective.
