This was emphasized with the last revision of ISO 11607 "Packaging for terminally sterilized medical devices." This revised standard focuses on the attributes, sterilization methods, and packaging system designs. The methods developed at Nelson Laboratories are based on meeting the requirements outlined by this standard.

Nelson Laboratories is closely involved in industry standards groups including: ANSI/AAMI/ISO, ASTM, ISTA, and PDA.
